All prayer or communion with God is for only one purpose—to achieve this sense of peace within; to achieve the realization that “…lo, I am with you always.” Let us have that sense of Divine Presence now and we will have answered prayer. And so this entire world will accept the Christ when its need becomes great enough. Today you begin the rebirth. You “die” today. You “die” today to the human being seeking good. You must be reborn of the spirit of God into the realization of good flowing forth through you. Pray? Yes, yes! Pray without ceasing, but do not ask, beseech, or beg God. No, no. Prayer must now be an inner communion with the source of all good. It must not be asking for things; it must be a recognition that at the center of your being there is this invisible vine which has been placed there in the beginning in order that you might be fulfilled. The reason it makes no difference what their religion may be is, of course, that there is only one God, there is only one Spirit. That Spirit doesn’t know the difference between a Jew or a Gentile; it doesn’t know the difference between a Protestant or a Catholic, an Oriental or an Occidental, or an American Indian. As far as the Spirit is concerned, it is entirely without any religious beliefs, convictions, ceremonies, rights, creeds, or forms of worship. It is an absolutely free and independent Spirit that permeates us just the same as the life of nature permeates a blade of grass, or it permeates an orchid, or a daisy, a violet, and it really doesn’t know the difference.
