To practice the letting go of previous (mis-)conceptions, of ‘old’ ideas, is something we are familiar with. The old ideas have had a connection with your physicality. Body memory. Example would be, at 10 o’clock I drink my coffee, I always sleep on the right side of my bed… etc.
In your responses to situations this becomes obvious. If you realize that in your “old” ways you think you have to “fix” the situation or “solve” the problem. This is even deeply embedded into your nervous system. It leads to chaos for one, but also will eventually exhaust you.
All the “old” responses as well as the “old” habits are based on an idea. On your idea about yourself of who you think you are. And this exact spot is where change will occur.
“You are not , have never been and will never be who you think you are”
(only in your dreams)
This I have mentioned before: It will lead you in a temporal “grieving’ process if you are attached to this one you think you are. But that won’t take too long if you start to experience Who you truly are… Are you still with me?
Here come our new practices and exercises. The new practices that we use help you to loosen the “grip” of old (physical) conditioning. In fact offer you the new discovery of “open mindedness” or “miracle mindedness”. This opens the way to experiences beyond the “old” material, physical way. This will help you to make space in your consciousness to experience Who you are.

In the Zen Patriarch we do exercises to let our grip on “old” habits be loosened in a creative way. By drawing “Zentangles”. You may think is this a spiritual practice? We use this as a means to release “old” ways in a creative way.
