From Treatment to Realization

If you want greater intelligence, greater experience, greater maturity, turn within and realize your conscious oneness with God. Understand that the invisible mind and invisible life, which is God, is now forming itself as your mind and your life. Then you, too, will find that you’re not cut off. You don’t wither at sixty or sixty-five; you begin to mature at that time. Like our great composers and authors who did their best works at eighty and eighty-two, so will you as you mature, or what the world calls “age,” because you have turned to your spiritual center for it. Now, to do this consciously constitutes treatment, but you experience the result of that treatment, and that treatment kept up over a period of time automatically turns from treatment to realization.

So it is with the organs and functions of the body: either they won’t work at all or they work too fast or work too slow. There is a spiritual treatment, a spiritual realization, that meets these conditions: It is the realization that mind is the substance of matter, mind is the substance of all physical form. Mind constitutes the body. Mind is invisible activity, but it appears visibly as body, as form, as organs, and as functions of the body. That’s why my hand, which is mind, responds to directions given by the mind: up, down, left, right. The hand does that. Why? Is the hand intelligent? No. The hand has intelligence. Every single cell of flesh, of blood, of muscle, and of bone, has a center of intelligence in it, and it responds to me. I say, ‘Give,” and it gives; I say, “Hold,” and it holds; I say, “Pet,” and it pets; I say, “Punch,” and it punches. Why? Because the hand is responding to my instructions.

What is the difference between my hand and my heart, liver, and lungs? All different parts of one body, all responsive to my instructions. Therefore, I say, “Heart, liver. Lungs, you can’t tell me how to act; I’m telling you how to act. Act in accordance with the way God meant for you to act when he created you. God made you in his own image and likeness. God gave you qualities and functions. Now perform them. Don’t talk back. I say to you, ‘Arise’; I say to you, ‘Come forth from that tomb’; I say to you, ‘Heart, liver, lungs, or any other part of the body, be about your Father’s business; do that which was given you to do. Let me have no back-talk from you!” this is a treatment. But do you see that if you continue this practice when the occasion requires, ultimately you will go beyond treatment? All of a sudden something inside you will say, “You don’t have to do that. I’m here to do that for you. I’ll take over.” Then you go about your business; you have now risen from treatment to realization.
