Let all self-praise die and let all self-condemnation die. There's a good thought isn't it? Let all self-praise die and all self-condemnation die. There is no condemnation now to them which are in Christ Jesus. Who are those who are in Christ Jesus? Those who claim God as the only good. Those who claim their identity as the manifestation and expression of that one Infinite I that I Am, Self-maintained I, Self-sustained I.
Pause Now of course, there is a sudden, quick, sharp, sure way to die daily, and that's through the crucifixion. If you want to do it in a hurry, do it through crucifixion; you won't drag it out very long. And the crucifixion, which as you know, is this denial of the self, the denial of personal powers and of personal evils. This crucifixion will prove to you what it has proven to me. I said this this morning: To me the great lesson of the crucifixion, the thing that Jesus taught through the crucifixion, was that a crucifixion can't kill anybody. It has no power.
Joel S. Goldsmith, tape 608B: 1951 Second Portland Series, 'God and the Nature of Discords', excerpt
No power
Joel shares above: “the crucifixion, which as you know, is this denial of the self, the denial of personal powers and of personal evils‘. The denial of the self, that is the self that you made as an image of yourself, all of it. All of it is: the family network you think yourself in, your social network, your country, your government all your ‘investments’ of nothingness. Your private and separate world, it isn’t shared in Reality, it has no existence.
Exactly this part of ‘you’ is where you spend most of your time and energy. It keeps you up at night. It makes you look for ‘interventions’ to ‘harmonize’ the situations. But actually it is not here, it is based on a personal past that is over and gone. This is your invitation to ‘die daily’. Joel shares more below.
