Toward the experience (5/6)

Many persons who are very good students of truth cannot heal because as long as they have only the letter of truth, they are believing it merely with the mind, and since it is the mind that has caused the difficulty, the mind is not going to cure it. The beliefs in the mind cause all the errors; therefore, another belief in the mind is not going to cure them. You must transcend the mind, and when you have transcended the mind all these things that the mind declares or believes in are proved unreal.

Toward the Experience

Error, A Mind-Formation

You will discover that almost as much attention is given in The Infinite Way writings to the nature of error as to the nature of God. The world believes that it knows what error is. To the world, it is a terrible and great power: it has the world in its grip, producing juvenile delinquency, gambling, drug addiction, rape, arson, murder, and wars. Everybody knows what evil is. If only someone could get God to do something about it! But in this message it is clearly revealed that you do not have to get God to do anything at all about it because the nature of evil is the “arm of flesh,” or nothingness.
“Resist not evil,” is the Master’s teaching, and that is the mystery of the healing ministry. When, in your healing work, you can sit down with the mind at rest and not battle the appearance, not fight it, not try to remove germs from someone’s body, not try to dissolve lumps and reduce fevers not try to heal insanity, but rest in that inner peace and quiet and assurance that there is only one law, spiritual law, and that all else is an image in the mind, the experience of God can take over and then the healing takes place.
Has there ever been any more potent material law than that sitting in a draught or getting wet feet would give a person a cold? Now materia medica has discovered that it never was a law, that it was a superstition, an old wives’ tale. Ah, yes, but many a cold has come about that way! But it was not from the wet feet or the draught: it was because a person accepted the universal belief that that would give him a cold, and it did. Now when it is known that it is not a law but a fairy tale, it is not feared.
Why should materia medica not eventually come to the realization that germs do not cause disease, but that germs are very natural, normal things? If God created all that is created, maybe He created germs too. Metaphysical movements have been proving for the last ninety years that germ-diseases can be healed without antibiotics. All kinds of flu have been healed without medication of any kind.
If germs were destructive powers causing disease, do you believe that even one case could have been healed? If there has ever been a case of tuberculosis healed spiritually, then germs are not the cause of tuberculosis. If there has ever been a case of pneumonia healed spiritually, then the whole germ theory is wrong because none of the antigerms has been used for the healing, not has a power over germs or fevers been exercised. If germs caused fevers, they would not have been healed in every one of the metaphysical movements by persons who really had experienced God.
Merely stating that error is not power or that germs do not have power will not heal anything, but if you will work with that principle until the realization comes that germs have no power if Spirit is, if God is, you will bring forth healing.
