Gospel of Thomas – cross references

In the online class series “The Gospel of Thomas” we enter into a great discovery. Thomas wrote his talks with Jesus down and Jesus expressions are shared in this gospel. But with that new liaisons are made with other spiritual scripture. This is where it becomes so beautiful. As an example here we use the 113th expression (=logion) that Thomas shares.

The Kingdom Is Revealed Through Meditation The Master gives us a passage of scripture which may well start us on our spiritual journey, but we will need to remember consciously this passage at least once every day as we go into a meditation: The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or Lo there! for behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17:20, 21

Finding the kingdom of God is not going to be accomplished by going any place, because the kingdom of God is within us. There are those who believe that these words were addressed to the immediate followers of Jesus, but I think that few of us would like to believe this, because if so, it would have been only the Hebrews of Jesus' day who had the kingdom of God dwelling within them. We, however, have accepted the word of the Master as universal truth, truth that existed even "before Abraham was," 6 truth that will exist until the end of the world, and so we believe that every word of the Master was meant for all those who had lived for centuries before him and for all those who will live unto the end of time.
