The Monastic Life

In the Way of the Servant series we used the book of Joel S. Goldsmith “A Parenthesis in Eternity”. Joel share a lot about becoming and being an instrument of God and in the last Servant meeting we take a look at the idea of Monastic Life. This is also appearing in many of Joel’s books.

But what does it have to do with me?

Do I recognize myself to have a monastic life, being in the spiritual practice and meditating? There are many similarities, but also a difference with the monastic life as we know it. A big difference is that a monastic life does not need to be in a secluded form. We can be right in the middle of the market place and still be tabernacling with God. In other words it is not depending anymore on the form or location. It has to do with your total commitment to truth and your experience of Communion or Communication with God.
