Poetic Discovery Beyond the Crucifixion
A Gentle Touch
Whenever you consent to suffer or feel pain,
You cast on your brother the shadow of a stain.
You hold your wounds up like a heavy door,
To lock him out of Heaven evermore.
But pain is not the truth of who you are;
It is a dream that leaves no lasting scar.
The Holy Spirit offers you a different view,
A picture of a bright and healed "you."
Where once you used your grief to prove his sin,
Now let your peace invite his Spirit in.
For as you rise above the sting of fear,
His “guilt” and yours will simply disappear.
Offer him health, and let the madness cease;
Your healing is the proof of his own peace.
I used my pain to prove my brother did me wrong,
And sang a bitter, sad, and lonely song.
I held my scars like weapons in my hand,
To keep him exiled from a holy land.
But now a Gentle Touch comes to me from above,
To turn my grievances back into love.
The Holy Spirit lays a different view in sight,
A body healed and filled with quiet light.
No longer used to punish or attack,
It gives the joy of pure forgiveness back.
Each tear is wiped away in laughter's grace,
As light returns to shine upon my face.
In my release, his guilt is cast away;
His innocence is proven here today.
